The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has initiated a significant overhaul of the city's waste management system by floating two tenders totaling ₹606.66 crore. The project is divided into two clusters: Cluster-I, with a budget of ₹295.60 crore, and Cluster-II, at ₹311.06 crore. This initiative aims to implement a structured and technology-driven approach to waste collection, addressing Gurugram's ongoing challenges with irregular collection and poor waste segregation. The selected contractors will manage end-to-end waste services, covering over 718,000 establishments, including residential and commercial units. They must deploy at least 50% of the required manpower and machinery within 30 days of signing the agreement. The MCG has also included financial conditions, such as an earnest money deposit of 2% of the project cost, to ensure accountability. This move is part of efforts to professionalize sanitation services and improve operational efficiency in response to growing public concerns over waste management.
