In response to the rampant issue of construction and demolition (C&D) waste dumping in Gurugram, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has initiated plans to establish seven micro-facilities for waste collection. These facilities will be equipped with waste containment zones and segregation bays for various types of debris, including concrete, bricks, and mixed waste. Each site will feature four CCTV cameras for monitoring, as part of efforts to regulate waste management effectively. The MCG aims to shift from informal dumping to a more structured approach, with provisions for complaint-based disposal included. Currently, about 1,200 tonnes of C&D waste are processed at the plant in Basai. Future initiatives involve expanding the network to 20 collection points and three processing plants in different sectors of Gurugram. Additionally, a door-to-door collection system is being planned to enhance waste management efficiency.
