A 32-year-old man, originally from Bhawanipur in Darbhanga district, Bihar, was arrested by the Gurugram police economic offences wing (EOW) in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly duping a local businessman of ₹4.27 crore in a property scam. The suspect, who had been evading capture for over a year, posed as a property consultant claiming to facilitate the purchase of a luxury apartment at a significantly reduced price through a public sector bank auction. He gained the victim's trust and convinced him to deposit the money into various accounts as security and participation fees. After the victim grew suspicious and contacted the bank, he learned that the auction documents were forged and the property had already been sold to someone else. Following this revelation, the victim filed a complaint on October 9, 2024, leading to the case being handed over to the EOW, which tracked the suspect's financial transactions and ultimately apprehended him for further interrogation.
