In a robust effort against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached residential properties and demolished illegal structures across various districts, including Srinagar, Kupwara, Shopian, Baramulla, and Kulgam. This initiative is part of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, launched by the Lieutenant Governor on April 11. In Srinagar, a double-storeyed house valued at approximately ₹1.2 crore (around $145,000 USD) belonging to drug peddler Maqsood Hussain Khan was attached. Similarly, in Kupwara, a house owned by Nazir Ahmad Peer was also attached due to its renovation with proceeds from drug trafficking. In Shopian, another property valued at ₹10 lakh (roughly $12,000 USD) belonging to Arshid Ahmad Dar was identified as acquired through illegal drug trade. The police also demolished illegal structures in Baramulla and Kulgam, including a cowshed and shops constructed on state land by individuals involved in narcotics offenses. These actions signify a decisive step in targeting the assets of drug networks and maintaining legal compliance throughout the process.
