On Thursday, two fatal road accidents occurred in Mohali, Punjab, India. The first incident involved 50-year-old Sunita Rani, a resident of Jheurherhi village, who was struck and killed by a tractor-trolley near Sector-82 on Airport Road while crossing the street. The driver, identified as Kuldeep Singh from Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, briefly stopped before fleeing the scene, leaving Rani with severe head injuries. Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are pursuing his arrest.
In a separate incident later that day, 34-year-old Baharan Kumar, a resident of Mohali village, was fatally injured when a speeding car hit him near the Jain temple on the Chandigarh-Kharar road. The driver, identified as Sumit Kumar, 36, struck Kumar from behind while he was walking along the roadside. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Kumar was pronounced dead. Family members revealed that he had recently become a father and was out gathering vaccination information for his newborn son at the time of the accident. Police are investigating both incidents, which were captured on CCTV.
