During the second convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Patna, Bihar Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (retd) urged young doctors to dedicate part of their careers to serving rural India, highlighting the disparity in healthcare standards between urban and rural areas. He expressed hope that AIIMS-Patna would evolve into a center of excellence, reducing the need for patients to travel to New Delhi for treatment. Hasnain encouraged graduates to embrace innovation and uphold ethical values in their practice, emphasizing the importance of compassion and empathy in patient care. The event also featured remarks from Ravi Shankar Prasad, who urged doctors to be sensitive to the needs of the poor and contribute to nation-building. AIIMS-Patna's executive director, Raju Agarwal, announced upcoming projects, including a 50-bedded burn hospital and a 150-bedded critical care block, along with plans to expand services. A total of 24 super-specialty, 75 postgraduate, and over 120 nursing students received degrees, with 27 meritorious students awarded gold medals for academic excellence.
