The assailant, Jabar Zubair Ansari, approached Sen under the pretense of asking for directions before questioning his religious identity. After a brief conversation, Ansari attacked Sen with a knife, injuring him. The assault continued in the supervisor's cabin, where he also stabbed Sen's supervisor, Rajkumar Mishra. Following the attack, Sen sought refuge and later reported the incident to the police. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has since launched an investigation, treating it as a potential lone wolf terror attack.
