Mohammad Salim Dola, a notorious drug trafficker and close aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, has been remanded in the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) until May 8. Dola, aged 59, was arrested in Turkiye based on an Interpol Red Notice issued in March 2024. He is wanted in multiple narcotics trafficking cases and has been identified as a key supplier of 20 kilograms of mephedrone seized from south Mumbai in June 2023. The NCB informed the court that Dola's name emerged during the investigation as an international drug trafficker associated with Ibrahim. The agency is pursuing his custody to conduct a detailed investigation into his operations, which reportedly involve high-level associates and complex international linkages. Dola's arrest followed the statement of a co-accused, Faisal Javed Shaikh, who admitted to procuring large quantities of mephedrone from Dola. The court noted Dola's criminal antecedents and his previous absconding status, emphasizing the necessity of custodial interrogation to uncover the drug supply chain and financial trails.
