Apple has announced a price increase for the Mac Mini, raising its starting price from $599 to $799. The new base model will now come with 512GB of storage and will be powered by the M4 chip. This change follows Apple CEO Tim Cook's comments on supply constraints affecting several Mac models, particularly the Mac Mini and Mac Studio, which may take months to balance supply and demand. The company is also grappling with a global memory shortage, which is expected to lead to significantly higher memory costs in the coming months. This shortage is largely driven by the rising demand for AI-related computing. Consequently, other Apple products, including certain Mac Studio models and new versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, have also seen price adjustments. Despite these challenges, Apple reported a 17% revenue increase in the March quarter, primarily due to a 22% rise in iPhone sales. The company anticipates continued sales growth of 14% to 17% in the third quarter, fueled by the upcoming iPhone 17 and the new MacBook Neo.
