Silk Board Junction, located in south Bengaluru, has long been notorious for its traffic congestion, ranking as the second most congested junction in India. Millions of commuters have faced frustrating delays at this critical intersection where four major city corridors converge. To address this issue, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. have embarked on a groundbreaking project to construct South India's first road-cum-rail double-decker flyover. This innovative structure will allow vehicles to travel on the lower level while metro trains operate above, effectively reimagining urban space and traffic management. Due to the heavy traffic conditions, construction is limited to a five-hour window each night, from midnight to 5 AM, making it one of the most complex urban construction projects in India. This ambitious endeavor aims to significantly improve the flow of traffic at Silk Board Junction, offering hope for a more efficient commuting experience in Bengaluru.
