The Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, has successfully rolled out its first Vande Bharat Express train, marking a significant milestone for the facility and Indian Railways. This event, celebrated on May 2, 2026, allows MCF to join the ranks of other manufacturers, including the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai and the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala. The new train is equipped with a Siemens propulsion system and boasts several modern features such as comfortable seating, jerk-free travel, fully sealed gangways, and automatic plug doors, which help reduce noise levels. Additionally, the train incorporates the indigenously-developed 'Kavach' Automatic Train Protection system, along with advanced fire detection and flood protection for its equipment. The train consists of 16 coaches, has a maximum speed of 160 km/h, and can accelerate to this speed in just 140 seconds. With the trial runs scheduled to commence soon, this development is set to enhance rail travel in India significantly.
