Arjun Kumar, a suspect in a rape case, escaped from police custody in Ludhiana, Punjab, while being transported from Rewari, Haryana. The police team had arrested him on April 14 and brought him to Ludhiana to recover his mobile phone, deemed vital evidence. After arriving, the team stopped at a roadside eatery near the railway station. During a bathroom break, Kumar requested to use the washroom, accompanied by Constable Ramandeep. However, he allegedly pushed the constable and fled, managing to escape despite a brief chase. The Rewari police promptly informed local authorities, leading to a case being filed against Kumar under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for escaping custody and assaulting a public servant.
