A 28-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in Nabi Karim, a locality in central Delhi, due to dowry demands. The victim, originally from Haldwani in Uttarakhand, had married a 39-year-old man from Vaishali district in Bihar on April 26. Her family reported that the husband had been demanding ₹3-4 lakh (approximately $3,600-$4,800 USD) for his business and subjected her to harassment. The situation escalated when a foul smell was detected from their residence, prompting the landlord to alert the police, who discovered the woman's decomposed body in a locked room on May 8. Following the family's allegations, police registered a case against the husband and his brother for murder and dowry death. The brother was arrested on May 10, while the husband remains at large. Authorities suspect strangulation as the cause of death, pending the postmortem report. The investigation is ongoing.
