Mohit Sharma, a 44-year-old man from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch after evading capture for nearly three years. He is wanted for a series of thefts from temples across multiple states, including Punjab, Kerala, and Karnataka. Sharma developed a pattern of targeting isolated or less-guarded temples, where he would often stay during the day to avoid suspicion and conduct reconnaissance before stealing valuables at night. He was apprehended near Patiala House Courts while planning to target temples in Connaught Place, New Delhi. Police had been tracking him based on tips regarding his movements. Sharma had been declared a proclaimed offender by a Punjab court in March 2023 for a theft case. Investigators are now looking into any local associates that may have assisted him in his criminal activities.
