An inquiry committee established by the Ghaziabad district magistrate (DM) has reported that it could not ascertain the cause of the fire at Gaur Green Avenue, a high-rise residential complex in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The fire, which occurred on April 29, affected eight flats and caused damage to several others on the eighth to thirteenth floors, but fortunately, no fatalities were reported. Vivek Mishra, secretary of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and head of the committee, noted that potential causes such as a short circuit, a cylinder blast, or foul play could not be confirmed, as the circuit breaker switch in the suspected unit was intact. The committee also identified that obstructions, including a wall between the swimming pool and parking area, impeded fire tender access during the incident. As a result, the committee recommended that setback areas and driveways be kept clear for emergency vehicles, and emphasized the importance of functional fire safety equipment managed by trained personnel. The residents' welfare association (RWA) has committed to implementing these recommendations and improving access for fire services.
