On May 13, a shooting incident in the boundary area between Joujangtek and Nungsai-II villages in Noney district, Manipur, resulted in the death of one civilian and serious injuries to two others. In response, security forces arrested Khongbantabam Chinglemba Meitei, a 35-year-old cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), in Thoubal district. The police have initiated search operations to locate the unidentified gunmen involved in the shooting. Additionally, in a separate case related to a firing incident in Imphal East district on May 7, police apprehended a juvenile and another suspect, Usham Roshan Singh, who allegedly aimed to instill fear and extort money.
