Security forces in Manipur, India, arrested six active cadres from two banned underground outfits on Tuesday. The operation aimed at curbing extortion and criminal activities across the state led to the apprehension of four members of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) in Imphal East district. During the operation, three youths who were coerced into joining the outfit were rescued. In a separate incident, an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) faction was also arrested in Kakching district. The security forces recovered a substantial cache of weapons, including four automatic rifles, 36 empty magazines, one 51-HE bomb, two para bombs, 11 detonators, and 1,193 live rounds of ammunition. Additionally, a self-styled advisor of the Kangleipak Communist Party-Apunba faction was apprehended. Authorities have registered various cases for further legal action.
