In Mullanpur, Punjab, a migrant worker named Sonu allegedly stole ₹1.65 lakh (approximately $2,000 USD) and a motorcycle from his employer, Mohammad Niaz, on the night of May 4. Niaz, a 29-year-old from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, had collected the cash from a client earlier that day and stored it in an almirah. Upon waking up on May 5, Niaz and his brother discovered that Sonu was missing, along with the cash and motorcycle. Meanwhile, another theft incident occurred in Zirakpur where thieves broke into a house and stole ₹4.5 lakh and gold jewellery while the family was away.
