On May 6, a cash van robbery occurred on National Highway-9 near Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, resulting in a theft of ₹27 lakh (approximately $32,500 USD). The Ghaziabad police's crime branch arrested two suspects, aged 20 and 23, both from Vijay Nagar, after analyzing over 500 CCTV footages. The robbery was allegedly orchestrated by a wood shop owner from the same area, who remains absconding along with four other accomplices. The group spent five months planning the heist, tracking the cash van's route after being inspired by a web series. During the incident, armed suspects hijacked the van while the staff was at an ATM, firing a shot in the air before fleeing with the cash. Police recovered ₹8.6 lakh and the vehicle used in the crime, along with an axe and an illegal weapon. The investigation continues as authorities seek the remaining suspects and the stolen cash.
