The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a review petition filed by Umar Khalid, an activist accused of conspiracy related to the February 2020 Delhi riots. The court, comprising Justices Aravind Kumar and N V Anjaria, stated that there are reasonable grounds to believe the allegations against Khalid. The review petition was rejected on April 16, 2026, with the court noting that there was no sufficient reason to overturn its earlier decision from January 5, 2026, which had also denied bail to Sharjeel Imam while granting it to five others. The riots, which erupted during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), left 53 people dead and over 700 injured. The Delhi Police have arrested a total of 18 individuals in connection with the conspiracy, with 11 of them having secured bail so far.
