The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a plea on April 24 regarding the investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a four-year-old girl in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The girl's father has requested a court-monitored probe by either a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) due to concerns about the local police's handling of the case. During previous hearings, the court noted the Ghaziabad Police's reluctance to lodge a First Information Report (FIR) and their insensitivity in the investigation process. The girl was reportedly lured away by a neighbor under the pretext of buying chocolates and was later found unconscious and bleeding. The Supreme Court has expressed dismay at the refusal of two private hospitals to admit the injured child, who was eventually declared dead at a government hospital. The court directed the police to provide the complete chargesheet to the victim's family to identify any gaps in the investigation.
