On Monday, the Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition by Pinakpani Mohanty that sought to declare Netaji Chandra Bose's Indian National Army (INA) as pivotal in India's independence. Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi expressed that the petition seemed aimed at gaining publicity, noting that a similar public interest litigation from Mohanty had been rejected previously. The Chief Justice threatened to bar Mohanty's entry into the court, stating, 'Supreme Court mein entry band kar denge.' Mohanty's plea sought to recognize Bose as the 'National Son' and to observe the foundation day of the INA and Bose's birth anniversary as national days. It also requested declassification of documents related to India's independence and the roles of various historical figures. The court instructed the Registry not to accept further petitions from Mohanty claiming public interest. Previously, the Supreme Court had rejected another plea by Mohanty regarding an inquiry into Bose's mysterious death.
