The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing a significant conspiracy related to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, which allegedly involved public servants. In a recent court session, the CBI revealed its intent to conduct custodial interrogation of Shubham Khairnar, a co-accused from Nashik. The agency has arrested seven individuals, including Dhananjay Lokhande from Ahilyanagar and Manisha Waghmare, a 46-year-old beautician from Pune. Lokhande is suspected of helping students secure medical college admissions, while Waghmare is believed to have facilitated connections between Lokhande and aspiring students for a fee. The leaked examination papers are said to have circulated in areas including Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Dehradun, and Kerala, with initial sales reaching as high as ₹30 lakh (approximately $36,000 USD). The CBI highlighted that the leaked papers were shared via social media platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, with nearly 500 to 600 questions closely resembling the original exam content. The investigation continues as the agency seeks to identify the kingpin and unravel the full extent of the conspiracy.
