Arbaz Makrani, a 27-year-old man, was arrested by Valsad Rural Police in Gujarat, India, for allegedly cheating and raping women by posing as a tribal and promising marriage. The first victim, a woman in her 20s, reported that she met Makrani through a fake social media profile in 2025, leading to a relationship. After discovering his true identity, she ended the relationship, but he threatened her and shared their private photographs online. Following her complaint, another woman approached the police, claiming that Makrani had raped her when she was a minor and had refused to marry her after she gave birth to his child. The police have filed charges against Makrani under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape and criminal intimidation, as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act due to the allegations involving a minor.
