Sameer Madhavrao Dabholkar, a 53-year-old watchman at Sinhagad College of Engineering in Pune, India, tragically died by suicide on Wednesday, citing non-payment of his salary. Dabholkar had not received his salary for 42 months, leading to severe financial distress. Before his death, he sent a seven-second video to his wife, stating, “Pagar zalela nahi (Salary not received).” Following this incident, his son, Vrushabh Dabholkar, lodged an FIR at the Bharatiya Vidyapeeth police station against several college officials, including founder Maruti Nivrutti Navale. The FIR accuses them of abetting suicide under sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are currently investigating the case, and no arrests have been made yet. This incident follows previous allegations against Navale, including a ₹70.9 lakh Provident Fund scam and a ₹58.04 crore loan fraud involving Central Bank of India officials.
