On Thursday morning, the bodies of three boys, aged 8 to 11, were recovered from a pond at the DDA Golf Course in Sector 24, Dwarka, southwest Delhi. The boys, identified as two brothers from Goyla Dairy, Qutub Vihar, and their friend, allegedly drowned while swimming on Wednesday evening. The police reported that the boys likely entered the pond around 8-9 PM but did not know how to swim, leading to their tragic drowning in the 10-foot deep water. Their clothes were found outside the pond, suggesting they had gone in to swim. The police have initiated an inquiry, with no foul play suspected, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled. The DDA has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident and evaluate safety measures at the site, especially since a similar incident occurred in 2023 involving three men who also drowned in the same pond. The police had previously alerted the DDA about safety concerns regarding the low-height boundary wall surrounding the golf course.
