A gas leak at the Atlantica Society in Charholi, Maharashtra, caused widespread panic among nearly 200 families shortly after midnight on Friday. Residents detected a strong gas odor in the basement parking area around 12:17 AM and promptly alerted the authorities. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) fire brigade responded quickly, arriving within minutes to investigate the situation. Firefighters discovered that the parking area was filled with gas fumes and traced the leak to a chamber linked to the underground gas pipeline network. Following safety protocols, the main gas supply valve was shut off to prevent any potential hazards. The fire brigade remained on-site until approximately 2 AM, ensuring that the area was safe before leaving. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although residents experienced considerable anxiety during the incident. MNGL engineers are expected to conduct permanent repairs later in the day.
