A serious safety lapse occurred at a Pune Metro construction site when a tin sheet was blown off by strong winds, crashing onto the busy Pune-Mumbai highway. The incident, which was captured in a viral video on May 9, showed the sheet falling dangerously close to a two-wheeler rider, who narrowly escaped injury. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) is investigating the incident and has assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible. Additionally, the organization is conducting a comprehensive safety inspection of the construction site to prevent similar occurrences. The incident coincided with light rainfall and gusty winds in Pune, which the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported affected several localities, including Girivan and Bhor. Maha-Metro is committed to enhancing safety measures at the site, emphasizing the importance of structural stability for temporary installations.
