In a decisive move against air pollution, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) sealed four ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants during a special inspection drive conducted on Thursday. This action targeted plants in areas such as Punawale, Moshi, and Pimple Saudagar, where officials found violations including inadequate dust control measures, poor housekeeping, and improper storage of raw materials. The sealed plants include the Pharande RMC plant in Moshi, Yash RMC plant in Chinchwad, Ram Group Crystal One RMC plant in Moshi, and Aswani Associates GK RMC plant in Pimple Saudagar. Following a similar operation last week, where 14 plants were sealed, PCMC Mayor Ravi Landge highlighted the direct threat dust pollution poses to public health. Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi reiterated that controlling air pollution is a top priority for the corporation. Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni announced plans to enhance the inspection drive further.
