The Maharashtra government has ordered the strict implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act to protect women in workplaces, following a serious incident reported at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Nashik. All government and private establishments with 10 or more employees are required to establish Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) and register them on the Centre's She-Box portal. Failure to comply could result in fines of up to ₹50,000 and repeated violations may lead to double penalties or license cancellation. Women and Child Development Commissioner Jagdish Miniyar emphasized that there will be no compromise on women's safety. The directive comes after multiple allegations of harassment and exploitation at TCS, leading to the arrest of nine individuals. TCS has stated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment, suspending those involved in the allegations. The government has tasked district officials to ensure compliance with these regulations.
