The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India has finalized draft standards aimed at the approval and certification of trailer caravans, which include recreational vehicles, camper vans, and motor homes. The draft standards, expected to be finalized within a month, will be made available for public consultation. The government recognizes the accommodation shortages at tourist destinations, particularly in remote areas where permanent structures may not be feasible. Caravan tourism offers a flexible solution, catering to families, young travelers, and international tourists by providing essential amenities such as sleeping accommodations, seating, cooking, and storage facilities.
