In 2024, around 180 youths from Haryana, India, moved to Israel for jobs in construction, including tiling and carpentry, attracted by the promise of higher earnings. Many are now earning over ₹3 lakh monthly, significantly more than their previous salaries in India. For instance, Ramesh Chander Jangra, who previously earned ₹30,000 a month in Haryana, now makes nearly ₹1.6 lakh monthly in Israel, sending home an average of ₹1.35 lakh after expenses. Similarly, Praveen Vats earns ₹48 lakh annually, sending ₹3 lakh home each month. Despite the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, these workers express a reluctance to return, citing financial stability and job satisfaction. The Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) has responded to this demand by advertising opportunities for an additional 7,600 eligible beneficiaries to work in Israel, indicating a growing trend among Haryana youths to seek employment abroad for better financial prospects.
