The Delhi government is drafting a semiconductor policy to establish the capital as a key player in semiconductor design and innovation. The policy will focus on five pillars: semiconductor design, research and innovation, manufacturing-enabling segments, talent development, and a strengthened startup ecosystem. The government plans to offer financial incentives like capital subsidies and infrastructure support to boost investor confidence. The policy is expected to create high-quality jobs in chip design and semiconductor research, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, which emphasizes technological sovereignty and economic resilience. India aims to meet 70-75% of its domestic chip demand by 2029.
