Users could theoretically enhance the iPhone 16e by swapping in the iPhone 17e's motherboard for improved performance. Additionally, the back glass of the iPhone 17e can be used to retrofit the iPhone 16e with MagSafe functionality, although the latter will remain limited to 7.5 W charging due to software restrictions. However, swapping the motherboard would disable the Face ID feature, as it is linked to the specific motherboard. This compatibility between the two models could increase the availability of spare parts, making repairs more accessible and affordable for users.
