Khanna district has emerged as the leader in emergency response times among Punjab's police forces, achieving an impressive average of 7 minutes and 31 seconds. This performance is part of the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) project initiated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on March 31, 2026, which introduced 508 new emergency response vehicles across the state. The latest report indicates that Khanna police responded to 43 emergency events during the assessment period, maintaining a 100% response rate. In contrast, larger commissionerates such as Jalandhar and Amritsar recorded longer response times of 8 minutes and 11 seconds and 10 minutes and 31 seconds, respectively. The ERV project aims to modernize policing in Punjab, with a total of 1,152 ERV vehicles currently operational statewide. Equipped with Mobile Data Terminals and advanced communication systems, these vehicles facilitate real-time information sharing, significantly reducing delays in response. Senior police officials, including Khanna's Senior Superintendent of Police Darpan Ahluwalia, are focused on further improving response times through enhanced monitoring of control room operations and field deployments.
