In a recent enforcement action, eight gyms and swimming pools in Greater Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar district, have been ordered to shut down due to violations of mandatory safety norms. Inspections revealed that these facilities lacked essential safety measures, prompting officials to issue notices requiring operators to address the deficiencies. Deputy Collector Ved Prakash stated that operations will remain suspended until compliance reports are submitted. The district's sports department has outlined stringent guidelines for swimming pools, including the installation of CCTV cameras, the presence of trained lifeguards, and emergency equipment like oxygen cylinders and stretchers. Additionally, gym operators must ensure fire safety certifications and have trained instructors. The enforcement drive is particularly timely, as safety concerns have risen with increased patronage during the summer months.
