The Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) of Sector 21 in Gurugram, Haryana, has written to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini regarding severe waste dumping on a 35-acre land parcel. They are advocating for the land to be earmarked for decentralized waste management and essential civic infrastructure, as a 28-acre portion has become a dumping ground for solid waste and debris due to lack of planned use. Currently, 7 acres remain unacquired, with the matter under review by the Supreme Court since 2014 due to a land acquisition dispute. RWA officials emphasize the need for facilities like wastewater treatment and community playgrounds instead of waste dumping. In response, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) officials stated that the land is under the jurisdiction of the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and not MCG. Chief Minister Saini has expressed intent to discuss the issue in an upcoming grievance redressal meeting.
