The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three individuals, including Dr. Syed Ahmed Mohiuddin, an MBBS graduate from Hyderabad, and two others from Uttar Pradesh, Azad Suleman Shaikh and Mohammad Suhel. They are accused of being part of an ISIS-linked conspiracy to use ricin, a highly toxic biological agent, to carry out mass poisoning in public areas. The chargesheet was submitted to a special NIA court in Ahmedabad, citing violations of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other laws. Investigators revealed that Shaikh and Suhel were instrumental in managing logistics, including fund transfers and weapon procurement, while maintaining communication with foreign handlers. The conspiracy was uncovered after Mohiuddin was intercepted by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in November 2025, leading to the recovery of illegal firearms and materials for ricin production. The investigation indicates a well-organized network with connections across states and potential international ties, with further searches and detentions anticipated as digital evidence is analyzed.
