K Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi and daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, launched her political party 'Telangana Rashtra Sena' (TRS) at a convention in Medchal, near Hyderabad. The party's five-point agenda emphasizes social justice, free education, healthcare, and employment opportunities for marginalized communities. Kavitha criticized her father's leadership, claiming he has lost empathy and connection with the people since becoming chief minister in 2014. She described the current KCR as a 'soulless mechanical doll' and alleged that the Telangana movement has lost its direction under his rule. Kavitha's decision to name her party TRS is seen as a strategic move to reclaim the legacy of the original Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which was renamed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in 2022. The new party flag features blue, yellow, and green colors, contrasting with the pink associated with the BRS. Kavitha plans to contest local elections and has promised significant reforms, including filling four lakh government vacancies and providing financial assistance to unemployed youth for entrepreneurship.
