Following the rejection of Engineer Rashid's interim bail plea by a Delhi court, the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) is placing its hopes on an upcoming hearing in the Delhi High Court on April 27. The plea for bail is grounded in humanitarian concerns, as Rashid's father, Khazir Mohammad, is critically ill and on a ventilator at the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. In response to the court's decision, AIP convened an emergency meeting of its executive council, attended by key leaders including general secretaries Nazir Ahmad Khan and Prince Parveez. The council expressed deep concern over the denial of interim relief, highlighting the need for empathy in such situations. They argued that as a sitting MP representing the Baramulla constituency, which includes 18 assembly segments and nearly 40% of Kashmir's population, Rashid's voice should be respected within democratic institutions. The AIP remains optimistic that the upcoming court hearing will reflect fairness and compassion.
