Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), claimed that her party has already secured over 100 seats in the first phase of the ongoing assembly elections, which saw a record voter turnout of over 93%. Speaking at a rally in Bhabanipur, she expressed confidence in achieving a two-thirds majority as the elections progress. Banerjee criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its extensive campaigning resources, stating that they have deployed 50 helicopters and numerous leaders to intimidate voters. She also announced plans to file a legal case against Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his threatening remarks towards TMC workers. The first phase covered 152 seats, while the next phase will include 142 seats. Banerjee's campaign has been marked by high political drama, including her abrupt departure from a rally due to noise from a nearby BJP event.
