Moushumi Chatterjee, a prominent actress in the Hindi and Bengali film industries during the 1970s and 1980s, recently shared her personal story in an interview with NDTV. She revealed that she got married at the young age of 15 to producer Jayanta Mukherjee, shortly after her career began with the Bengali film Balika Badhu in 1967. The marriage was arranged due to family ties, as her father-in-law, Hemanta Mukherjee, was the music director of her debut film. Chatterjee explained that her aunt, who was terminally ill, wished to see her married, prompting the quick wedding plans. By 17, she was already pregnant. Reflecting on her career, she noted the intense competition of her era and shared insights into her experiences working with legendary actors like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. Some of her memorable films include Anuraag, Roti Kapda aur Makaan, and Chupke Chupke.
