Filmmaker Ektaa Kapoor is set to release 'Ragini 3', the latest installment in her supernatural horror-thriller franchise. In a recent development, Nargis Fakhri will be romancing Aayush Sharma, replacing Tamannaah Bhatia, who was initially rumored to play a dual role alongside Junaid Khan. Nargis will portray a police officer, marking a significant shift in her onscreen persona. Unlike its predecessors, 'Ragini 3' aims to move away from the horror-erotic format that characterized earlier films, focusing instead on suspense, humor, and supernatural elements. The film is being branded as a 'date night horror' experience, indicating a bold rebranding strategy by the makers. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, known for his successful films 'Khoobsurat' (2014) and 'Veere Di Wedding' (2018), 'Ragini 3' is set to begin filming in July 2023, with a release date planned for 2027. The project faced delays when the original director, Sahir Raza, exited, but production is reportedly back on track.
