The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has confirmed that the construction of a new clock tower near Talkatora Stadium is set to be completed by June 2026. This 27-meter octagonal tower was initially scheduled for completion in January 2026, but delays caused by construction challenges, including rocky terrain and restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), have extended the timeline. Currently, about 60% of the work is finished. The project, which costs ₹1.3 crore (approximately $157,000 USD), features a two-meter-diameter clock and incorporates ornamental detailing with granite flooring and marble elements. The design aims to blend Hindu, Mughal, and colonial architectural styles, reflecting the historical significance of clock towers in the area, where timekeepers once rang bells every hour before wristwatches became common.
