In an effort to tackle traffic congestion in Lutyens Delhi, the Delhi Traffic Police, in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), has launched a series of engineering measures aimed at improving traffic flow and road safety. Following discussions among senior officials, priority areas have been identified for intervention. Key measures include the installation of central verges on roads like San Martin Marg and Janpath to curb wrong-side driving, which is a major contributor to congestion. Additionally, existing bus stops on SP Marg will be transformed into dedicated bus bays, allowing buses to stop without blocking the main carriageway. Efforts will also focus on easing congestion near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara on Baba Kharak Singh Marg, where dedicated lay-by lanes for auto-rickshaws will be developed to prevent bottlenecks. To further enhance traffic management, strict no-parking enforcement will be implemented on Baba Kharak Singh Marg, particularly on busy days. Authorities aim to begin these interventions immediately to provide relief to commuters and residents in New Delhi.
