The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate allegations made by Vignesh Shishir, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's alleged disproportionate assets. The court issued this order on May 12 after hearing the petition, emphasizing that the agencies should verify the allegations as per the law. The division bench, comprising Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Justice Zafeer Ahmad, noted that the complaint had been received by the CBI and ED. The court also allowed the petitioner to include the secretary of the corporate affairs ministry in the case. The relevant documents must be maintained in a sealed cover by the high court's senior registrar. This case is part of two legal actions initiated by Shishir against Gandhi, with the second case involving accusations of violating citizenship laws. The next hearing is scheduled for May 20, while the citizenship case will be heard on May 27.
