The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced the reopening of councillors' offices, which were closed due to the model code of conduct during the Assembly elections. Starting Friday, councillors will meet with residents at their ward offices to address civic issues. Congress councillor Dilli Babu noted that residents are eager to report problems, particularly concerning increased debris dumping and sewage issues. DMK councillor T.V. Shemmozhi mentioned that while the number of complaints had decreased recently, residents still express concerns about garbage accumulation in areas like Vasantham Colony in Anna Nagar. Councillors are also facing rising complaints regarding streetlights. With the reopening of offices, residents are expected to visit Ripon Buildings to seek resolutions for their grievances. Additionally, work on roads, stormwater drains, community halls, and schools is anticipated to resume shortly.
