The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has allocated ₹200.50 crore in its ₹4,628-crore budget for 2026-27 to develop a glass skywalk in Lonavala, Maharashtra, as part of a broader initiative to enhance tourism and road infrastructure. This project, championed by the late Ajit Pawar, aims to connect two popular tourist spots—Lions Point and Tiger Point—over a 125-meter long and 6-meter wide skywalk. The PMRDA plans to fund the project with hopes of receiving an additional ₹100 crore from both the Union government and the District Planning Committee. The development will also include facilities for adventure sports, an amphitheater for 1,000 people, and parking for 1,500 cars and 2,000 two-wheelers. The skywalk is expected to significantly boost tourism, drawing approximately 10,000 visitors on weekends. Additionally, the PMRDA is working on decongesting city roads through projects like twin tunnels and an inner ring road.
