In Gujarat, India, more than 514,566 adolescent girls have been vaccinated against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) as part of a comprehensive campaign aimed at preventing cervical cancer. As of May 6, the campaign has achieved a coverage rate of 91.5% among the 562,324 eligible girls. The initiative, overseen by State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has been conducted safely, with no serious adverse effects reported. Vaccinations are provided free of charge at various public health facilities, including government hospitals and health centers. Some districts, such as Rajkot and Bhavnagar, have reported coverage exceeding 100%, indicating effective outreach efforts. The state health department urges families to ensure that eligible girls receive their vaccinations before the campaign concludes at the end of May. Minister Pansheriya has also cautioned against misinformation circulating on social media regarding vaccine safety, emphasizing the importance of participation in the program.
