West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the state government has approved the transfer of land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for the construction of a fence along the Bangladesh border. This decision was made during the Cabinet's first meeting and aims to enhance border security. The land transfer process will begin immediately and is expected to be completed within 45 days. Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, which aims to provide health coverage to citizens, and confirmed that several other federal initiatives will be adopted in West Bengal. The Cabinet also approved a five-year extension in the age limit for applicants seeking school jobs, fulfilling a promise made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the election campaign. Furthermore, Adhikari criticized the previous government for neglecting constitutional mandates and confirmed the Cabinet's decision to implement criminal law in the state, ensuring adherence to the June 2025 Census circular from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
